How I Used AI to Decorate My Office and Create a YouTube Studio
The reason I wanted to decorate my office is because we had just moved into this new place back in January of 2025.
We moved into our new apartment, and I knew that one of the bedrooms was going to be my personal office.
My wife and I had specifically chosen this apartment with three bedrooms so that two of them could be turned into offices.
Since I was set on starting a YouTube channel, I wanted to create a cool background for my videos. I didn’t want just a plain wall behind me.
That’s why I decided to decorate my office.
Searching for Inspiration
Because I’m not an interior designer, the first thing I did was go on Google and search for pictures of cool home offices.
I also looked up YouTube home offices and found some photos (I’ll include some here).
The problem was that they all looked too complicated.
I couldn’t figure out how to take one of those pictures and make it a reality.
They were good for inspiration, but not very useful.
Then I went on YouTube and searched for how to turn a home office into a YouTube studio.
Again, a lot of the videos were complicated with all kinds of lighting setups and big transformations.
But then I found one video by Ali Abdaal called How I Built a YouTube Studio in a Tiny Room.
In that video, his biggest takeaway was that you don’t need much to set up a good YouTube background.
He said you really just need a plant, some art, a lamp, a bookshelf, and maybe a rug to help with sound.
He went to IKEA, bought those things, and assembled them.
That made things super simple for me.
Now I knew what I needed: a bookshelf, a lamp, some art, a plant, and a rug.
But I still didn’t know which ones to buy.
I didn’t want to end up with random mismatching things that looked like they came from a flea market.
Aesthetics matter a lot to me, so I wanted something that looked good.
Using MidJourney for Ideas
At the time, I had already been using MidJourney to create advertising images for our clients.
And in my opinion, I think that MidJourney always produces better design and aesthetics compared to other AI image generators.
So I thought, why not use MidJourney to help me design my office?
Using Ali Abdaal’s list of items, I wrote prompts for MidJourney: a home office in a small room with white walls, a lamp, some art, a bookshelf, a plant, and also somewhere else to sit.
I started playing with different styles: modern, minimalistic, superhero-themed.
The results were really cool (I’ll include some of the pictures here).
I think they look super cool!
Choosing the Right Art
The art on the wall was the most important part to me.
MidJourney gave me superhero ideas like Spider-Man, Superman, Dragon Ball Z.
But I wanted the art to be inspiring and meaningful.
I thought about themes.
This office is where I get to work on my craft, improve my business, and grow.
I wanted the art to reflect that.
So I came up with the idea of having portraits of some of the greatest minds and creators who inspire me—people working on their craft.
On my list I had Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Warren Buffett, George Lucas, Walt Disney.
I wanted to see Walt Disney drawing, Elon Musk building, George Lucas working on his movies, Warren Buffett reading financial statements.
And I wanted all the images to share a consistent color scheme so the room would feel tied together.
So I used MidJourney to generate those exact images.

The results were really cool.
Bringing It to Life
Now I had the images, but I needed to print them.
In Ali Abdaal’s video, he mentioned a company called Displate that sells magnetic matte posters.
The matte finish looked amazing.
I found out that Displate lets you upload custom designs if you buy at least one of their regular posters.
So I bought a Harry Potter one and then uploaded all the MidJourney images I had created.
I ordered them as matte metal posters and put them on my office wall.
That’s why there are five visionaries on my wall, plus one Harry Potter poster I bought just to unlock the custom option.
The plant was a gift from Oana's mom.
We found the bookshelf on Amazon.
The rug we found on this home decoration website.
Final Thoughts
And that’s how I used AI to decorate my office.
In the past, you’d need to hire an interior designer who had the vision to put everything together.
But now, with AI, you can explore different looks, iterate quickly, and design something that feels right for you.
For me, being able to do this on my own, without being a designer, and ending up with something I really love, and I loved going through the process.
